Guangdong Building Materials

In the first half of 2019, the production of Guangdong’s major building materials products remained stable. Among them, the output of cement decreased slightly, the output of flat glass rose slightly, the output of ceramic tiles decreased slightly, and the output of sanitary ceramics increased by 4.8% over the same period last year. In addition, cement pressure pipes, tiles, asphalt and modified asphalt waterproof coils have increased significantly compared to the same period last year, with growth of 88.3%, 50.1%, and 18.7%, respectively.
In the first half of 2019, the value added of Guangdong’s construction industry was 1,450.10 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. Guangdong real estate development enterprises completed a total of 725.560 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. The increase in investment in the construction and real estate industries will also have a stimulating effect on the demand for building materials products, and will also increase the investment in fixed assets in the building materials industry.
In the first half of 2019, Guangzhou’s total foreign trade import and export value was 456.14 billion yuan, an increase of 1.2% over the same period of the previous year. The growth rate of foreign trade import and export has turned negative for the first time this year. In June of this year, Guangzhou’s foreign trade imports and exports achieved growth, with a total import and export value of 82.13 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1% year-on-year.
In the first half of 2019, Guangzhou’s imports and exports to the EU were 74.35 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5%; imports and exports to Japan were 58.73 billion yuan, an increase of 24.3%; and imports and exports to South Korea were 35.3 billion yuan, an increase of 20.5%. In the first half of the year, Guangzhou’s imports and exports to countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” were 106.22 billion yuan, and imports and exports to Hong Kong and Macau were 39.11 billion yuan. In a single month in June, Guangzhou’s imports and exports to ASEAN increased by 13.7% and those to Africa increased by 23.5%, showing a strong momentum.
In the first half of this year, the export situation of Guangdong’s building materials products was still severe, with the overall export volume and export value falling, but as the export situation in the second quarter began to recover, especially in May and June, exports of ceramics and stone products increased significantly compared with the same period last year , I believe the export situation in the second half of this year should improve。
